VW Transporter can't handle weight

Asked by Mark Richards

The new VW Transporter T5GP 4motion dual-cab cab-chassis we bought in 2010 cannot handle the weight we need it to carry. I am an electrical contractor and carry a varying load of equipment incl. solar panels etc. It was just weighed and is close to the 3000 kg GVM without much gear loaded. Any suggestions on how to fix the load capacity, including the possibility of dual rear wheels, would be greatly appreciated. We currently have a vehicle that we are paying off and are unable to use it for the purpose for which it was intended.

I would start by discussing your problem with your dealer and request the help of VW’s commercial vehicles experts to come up with a solution. But it seems as though you have bought the wrong vehicle, and maybe need to move up to a Crafter to get the load carrying capacity for the job at hand.
