What is the durability and re-sale value of a used car?

Asked by Nicole

I have the opportunity to buy a 2017 VW Polo Urban+ or a 2019 Renault Clio Zen. They are both the same price, but the Polo has one year left on the warranty compared to the Clio, which has five years warranty. Is one better than the other? Do you have any thoughts on life expectancy, durability and resale value?

In terms of life expectancy and durability I would expect both to be about the same, but I would expect the Polo to have slightly better resale value than the Clio. Both are good cars, but I would choose the Renault because of its longer warranty.
