Why does my car have static interference with AM radio when the engine is on?

Asked by Keith

My car radio has strong static when in AM mode with the engine on. There’s less static when it’s in Aux mode. FM appears to be ok. What can be done to rectify this problem? The vehicle is still under warranty.

If it’s still under warranty take the car to your dealer and request it be fixed to your satisfaction. If you don’t get any satisfaction you could take the car to a car radio/sound specialist and have them try to fix it. It could be that it needs a better antenna.
