Will the BMW E39 525i become a future classic?

Asked by Tyrone

I am considering buying a used E39 BMW 525i with lowish km, but I was wondering if the E39 is a good car and may one day be a future classic. Would you buy the 6 or 8 cylinder? If so which engine?

I doubt the E39 will ever be considered a classic, particularly a run-of-the-mill model like the 525i. If I were to buy one I would buy the six-cylinder.
