2021 Audi Q2 pricing and specs detailed: Volvo XC40, Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1, Lexus UX and Jaguar E-Pace rival steps up with facelift

The Q2 line-up has been refreshed for 2021.

Audi Australia has released pricing and specification details for the facelifted version of the first-generation Q2 small SUV, which will enter showrooms next month.

The entry-level and mid-range variants in the Q2 line-up have been renamed and repriced, with the 35 TFSI Design becoming the 35 TFSI and moving up $950, to $42,900 plus on-road costs, while the 40 TFSI Sport is now the 40 TFSI S line and has become $500 dearer in the process, at $49,900.

For the extra spend, buyers of the Volvo XC40, Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1, Lexus UX and Jaguar E-Pace rival are compensated with a longer list of standard equipment, with the 35 TFSI including LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors and keyless entry.

Inside, an 8.3-inch touchscreen multimedia system, satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a wireless smartphone charger, dual-zone climate control and leather-appointed upholstery feature.

Advanced driver-assist systems extend to autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, a reversing camera, parking sensors and tyre pressure monitoring plus six airbags.

The 40 TFSI S line adds drive modes, an S line body kit, 18-inch Audi Sport alloy wheels, a power-operated tailgate, front sports seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and aluminium interior trim.

The 35 TFSI is powered by a new 110kW/250Nm 1.5-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine, which replaces the previous 1.4-litre unit that was just as potent, although it lacked the former’s cylinder deactivation technology.

Meanwhile, the 40 TFSI S line steps up with a carryover 140kW/320Nm 2.0-litre unit, which reduces the Q2’s zero-to-100km/h sprint time from the 35 TFSI’s 8.6 seconds to 6.5s.

While both the 35 TFSI and 40 TFSI S line are mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the former is front-wheel drive, and the latter uses Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system.

As reported, the new Q2 range’s flagship is the performance-focused SQ2 ($64,400), which had its pricing and specification details announced last month (see story link above).
