2021 Mercedes-Benz A-Class, CLA and B-Class pricing and specs detailed: Audi A3 and BMW 1 Series and 2 Series rivals change in cost

Mercedes-Benz Australia has revised the pricing of its small-car range, with most variants of the A-Class hatchback and sedan, CLA sedan and B-Class hatchback becoming more affordable due to several factors.

The A-Class line-up is now $100 to $820 cheaper, with the only exception being the recently introduced A250e plug-in hybrid variant, which has become $100 and $500 more expensive in hatchback and sedan form respectively.

As a result, the Audi A3 and BMW 1 Series rival’s range now starts from $45,000 plus on-road costs for the A180 hatchback and reaches $94,100 for the AMG A45 S hatchback (see full pricing tables below).

That said, it’s worth noting the A250 is no longer available in front-wheel-drive guise, with a Mercedes-Benz Australia spokesperson telling CarsGuide the variant was discontinued due to the popularity of its all-wheel-drive counterpart as well as the aforementioned A250e.

Conversely, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer-rivalling B-Class hatchback continues to be offered in a single variant, although the B180 is now $200 cheaper, at $48,000.

Meanwhile, the CLA sedan’s entry-level CLA200 and CLA250 variants are now $500 more affordable, at $62,100 and $70,100 respectively.

However, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe rival’s AMG performance flagships, the CLA35 and CLA45 S, have become $300 and $700 more expensive, at $85,900 and $112,000 respectively.
