2021 Mitsubishi Triton pricing and specs detailed: Ford Ranger, Toyota HiLux and Isuzu D-Max rival creeps up in cost

Mitsubishi Motors Australia has increased pricing for its popular Triton ute range by up to $1250 for 2021, while also discontinuing the range-topping GLS Premium variant.

Kicking the line-up off as before is the 4x2 GLX Single Cab petrol manual cab chassis, with pricing up $500 to $22,990 before on-road costs.

The diesel version however, jumps up $1250 to $27,490, while the adding an automatic brings pricing up to $28,740 (+$1000).

Rounding out the 4x2 range is the GLX ADAS Double Cab diesel automatic pick-up for $36,540 (+$450).

The 4x4 Triton range opens with the GLX Single Cab cab chassis, priced at $34,240 (+$1000) for the manual and $36,490 (+$750) for the automatic respectively, while the Double Cab versions come up to $37,240 (+$750) and $40,240 (+$450).

The GLX Club Cab manual and GLX ADAS Club Cab automatic cab chassis grades move up $750 and $450 to $36,490 and $39,490 respectively, with the GLX+ Club Cab auto pick-up now priced at $42,240 (+$500).

Like before, the manual Double Cab pick-up range can be had in GLX (from $38,240), GLX ADAS ($39,290), GLX+ ($41,740), GLX-R ($42,740) and GLS ($46,240) grades, with an automatic transmission adding $2250 to the asking price.

All manual versions of the aforementioned 4x4 Double Cab variants are up $750 with the exception of the GLS that is up $800, while auto versions are now $500 pricier than before (+$550 for the GLS auto).

Sitting atop the 2021 Triton range is the automatic-only 4x4 GSR Double Cab pick-up that is up $850 to $52,740 now that the GLS Premium (which was priced at $52,790) has been deleted.

Powering all Triton variants is a 133kW/430Nm 2.4-litre turbo-diesel engine, barring the sole 94kW/194Nm 2.4-litre petrol found under the bonnet of the price-leading grade.

The manual gearbox paired with the petrol engine features five gears, whereas the do-it-yourself shifter on the diesel versions sport six ratios – the same number for all automatic Tritons.

Specification is expected to carryover unchanged for the 2021 model year however, with a Mitsubishi Motors Australia spokesperson telling CarsGuide the price changes are a result of unfavourable exchange rates.

As standard, the Triton is fitted with 16-inch wheels, cruise control, air conditioning, hill-start assist and a 6.1-inch multimedia screen, while more expensive grades add larger wheels, automatic headlights and wipers, lane departure warning, autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection, keyless entry and more.

Like all new Mitsubishi models, the Triton comes with a 10-year/200,000km warranty if scheduled servicing is conducted at an authorised dealership, otherwise the assurance period is halved.
