Subaru Australia has released the facelifted version of the second-generation XV, with the small SUV doubling its number of ‘self-charging’ hybrid options while getting a fresh new look.
As before, four variants are fitted with a 115kW/196Nm 2.0-litre naturally aspirated boxer four-cylinder engine: entry-level 2.0i, mid-range 2.0i-L and 2.0i Premium, and flagship 2.0i-S.
The 2.0i’s pricing is up $450, to $29,690 plus on-road costs, while the 2.0-L is now priced $380 higher, at $31,990. That said, it’s the 2.0i Premium that’s copped the largest price rise, jumping $1170 to $34,590, while the 2.0i-S has risen $760, to $37,290.
Previously, there was only one hybrid variant, the 2.0i-based Hybrid – which combined a 110kW/196Nm version of the aforementioned petrol engine with a 12.3kW/66Nm electric motor – but now there are two: the 2.0i-L-based Hybrid L and 2.0i-S-based Hybrid S.
While the Hybrid was priced from $35,580 – partly due its extra standard equipment over the preceding 2.0i – the Hybrid L and Hybrid S cost $35,490 and $40,790 respectively.
And no matter the powertrain, the XV is mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel-drive system.
Revealed overseas in June, the XV’s facelift ushers in revised suspension as well as new grille, front bumper, foglight surround and 17- and 18-inch alloy wheel designs, while Hybrid variants gain e-Active Shift Control for the CVT when its S drive mode is engaged.
