2021 Toyota Yaris GR prices jump up after first batch sells out

Prices for the Toyota GR Yaris has jumped from $39,950 to $44,950 drive-away after the first 1000 units are snapped up.
Toyota Australia has added $5000 to the price of the GR Yaris, which is now $44,950 drive-away after the first 1000 units sold out at the special $39,950 introductory price in under a week of order books opening.
The catch though, is the new price is only applicable to the next 100 units and available exclusively through dealerships rather than online.
Toyota is expected to increase pricing after the next 100 cars are sold, though whether it jumps to the GR Yaris’ $49,500 before on-road costs recommended retail pricing is still unknown.
The new pricing moves the GR Yaris upstream of the $41,400 BOCs Hyundai i30 N and $40,490 Subaru WRX, and closer to the likes of the Ford Focus ST ($44,890) and Volkswagen Golf GTI ($47,190).
Against similarly-sized hot hatches though, the GR Yaris now significantly more expensive than the Ford Fiesta ST ($32,290) and VW Polo GTI ($32,890), but offers all-wheel-drive traction and a more potent powertrain.
Speaking of, the GR Yaris is fitted with a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol three-cylinder engine outputting 200kW/370Nm, which is paired to a six-speed manual gearbox for a zero-to-100km/h sprint in just 5.2 seconds.
A limited-run Rallye grade is also due to launch next year with stickier rubber and Torsen limited-slip differentials for both axles, though pricing is still be to confirmed.
