2022 Fiat 500 price and features: Kia Picanto and Mitsubishi Mirage rival pushes on with new flagship grade as part of range-wide update

Fiat Australia has once again updated the second-generation 500 micro car, with the previously special-edition Dolcevita grade becoming a permanent member of the line-up.

While the Dolcevita effectively replaces the Club as the 500’s flagship grade, it costs $200 more and is available with a five-speed manual in both the hatchback ($21,450 plus on-road costs) and convertible ($25,450) body-styles, with the optional five-speed Dualogic automatic commanding a $2000 premium.

Meanwhile, the entry-level Lounge grade remains available in available in manual ($18,950) and automatic ($20,950) hatchback variants, although they’re now $300 and $250 more affordable respectively. That said, it can no longer be had as a convertible.

Standard equipment in the Lounge includes LED daytime running lights, 15-inch alloy wheels, tyre pressure monitoring, power-adjustable side mirrors with heating, and rear parking sensors.

Inside, a 7.0-inch touchscreen multimedia system (with voice control), Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, digital radio, a 3.5-inch multifunction display and a leather-trimmed steering wheel feature.

The Dolcevita adds dusk-sensing lights, fog lights, rain-sensing wipers, 16-inch alloy wheels, chrome exterior trim, a fixed sunroof (hatchback only), a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, ‘premium’ cloth upholstery, body-colour interior trim, single-zone climate control and cruise control.

A $1900 Lusso Pack can add 16-inch Diamantura Nero alloy wheels, rear privacy glass and leather upholstery to the Dolcevita, while its hatchback body-style can also get a power-operated sunroof for $1500.

All variants of the Kia Picanto and Mitsubishi Mirage rival are motivated by a 51kW/102Nm 1.2-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, which drives the front wheels.

As reported, the third-generation 500, an exclusively all-electric model, is yet to be confirmed for Australia, so stay tuned.
