2022 Nissan Z Proto sold out! But don't worry if you missed out, there are more Zeds on the way

The new Nissan Z Proto is already a sales hit before it has arrived in Australia.

The Nissan Z is still at least two months from Australian roads, but it’s already a sell-out success.

Nissan Australia confirmed today that the limited edition Z Proto version has sold out, without revealing how many examples the local operation secured. But before you panic that you missed out, Nissan Australia has confirmed that the ‘standard’ Z coupe is still available to order and will arrive at the same time as the Z Proto; set to be made available in late July or early August. However, don’t expect your car to arrive anytime soon, with Nissan revealing there’s already a long queue for the coupe too.

“The Z is the ultimate expression of Nissan’s sports car credentials and we expected demand to be strong for this incredibly special vehicle,” said Adam Paterson, Nissan Australia managing director. “I’m excited to confirm that all Australian production of Z Proto spec is now sold-out.”

He added: “All future owners of the Z have plenty to look forward to, with the fastest, most powerful and most exciting Z car ever; set to arrive in Australia very soon.”

The sell-out of the Z Proto is a big win for Nissan as it carried a significant price premium over the standard model. The Z Proto is priced from $80,700, while the Z coupe begins at $73,300 (both prices exclude on-road costs).

The Z Proto’s unique features include the Ikazuchi Yellow paint with a black roof, 19-inch bronze forged alloy wheels, yellow brake calipers and black and yellow interior highlights.

Standard equipment for the Z includes 19-inch alloy wheels, heated leather-accented front seats, a customisable 12.3-inch TFT instrument display, an 8.0-inch multimedia screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and an eight-speaker Bose audio system.

Both models are powered by the same 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 making 298kW and 475Nm.
