2025 Honda Civic facelift revealed: Preview of changes that could make it to Australia for Toyota Corolla, Mazda 3 rival

American Honda Motor has revealed the facelifted version of its locally built Honda Civic hatch, possibly previewing tech and styling changes that could apply to Australian models soon.

Our Civics are sourced from Japan, the USA’s home-built Hondas have been treated to a new hybrid version that’s been available in Australia for some time, as well as changes to the design and cabin tech.

A redesigned ‘more aggressive’ front bumper and darker tail-lights, black 18-inch wheels or new machine-finished wheel designs, body-coloured headlight trim (for hybrids) and new colour options are all on the cards.

Inside, new interior colours, more options for certain variants, and a plush Sport Touring Hybrid model with 12-speaker Bose sound system, heated leather seating, a larger 9-inch touchscreen and wireless smartphone charger is available, though here in Australia the Civic is only sold in relatively high-spec variants.

A big addition is built-in Google apps, like Google Assistant, Google Maps and Google Play, with a complimentary 3-year unlimited data plan for new owners.

The Civic's design and cabin tech has been updated

American Civics are all, hybrid or no, powered by the brand’s 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, while a 1.5-litre engine remains available here in Australia for the non-hybrid Civic VTi-LX ($47,200 before on-road costs).

The hybrid e:HEV LX ($55,000) still uses the 135kW/315Nm 2.0-litre engine here.

While not all of the updates from the US will apply here in Australia, chances are an update of some magnitude will be set for our Japan-sourced Civics soon.
