Best new car deals for October

Drive-away is the go when it comes to new car deals in October.

As Ford prepares to pull the plug on local production, the sporty Falcon XR6 sedan is going for $38,190 and the ute $33,040, while Territorys are from $42,490 — all at drive-away prices.

Holden is still tempting buyers with frequent flyer points. You can get up to 100,000 Velocity points on a Cruze Z Series from $21,990 drive-away or a run-out Colorado ute from $36,990. Check the fine print.

Toyota has deals on just about all models but a stand-out is the Aurion from $29,990 drive-away, with zero finance, a saving of about $9000.

Among new Fortuner demos, the GX is from $44,990 drive-away with a wheel upgrade thrown in.

Honda's Civic sedan, at $24,990 drive-away, comes with an extended warranty and free roadside assistance.

Mitsubishi's ASX and Outlander SUVs remain outstanding value at $25,000 and $27,990 drive-away respectively, in auto guise. Its ageing but solid Lancer ES is also good buying at $20,990 drive-away with auto.

Mazda meanwhile is sweetening its drive-away deals with an extra year of warranty, $500 of accessories and three-year roadside assist. The Mazda2 Neo is $16,990 drive-away.

Kia's popular Rio hatch is a steal at $13,990 for the three-door or $16,990 drive-away for the five door, both with an auto. The smaller, recently introduced Picanto is now $14,990 drive-away.

Suzuki is following suit across the range, its stand-out being the small S-Cross SUV — save $3000 on the front-drive GL manual from $21,990 drive-away.

Play it safe with Volvo, which is doing drive-away deals and adding three years of free servicing across the range. All vehicles feature auto emergency braking.

The V40 D2 Kinetic hatch is from $36,888, S60 T4 Kinetic sedan from $43,888 and XC60 T5 Luxury 2WD mid-size SUV from $57,888.

Fiat is running out its 500, with the Sport at $18,000 or the convertible at $22,000 drive-away. The larger five-door 500X is from $26,000 drive-away.

Isuzu's MU-X SUV is drive-away across the range, starting from $36,990 for the 4x2 LS-M or $50,990 for the top of the range LS-T with rear DVD player and $1000 worth of accessories.

Volkswagen's run-out Amarok Highline AWD has never been better value at $53,990 drive-away, with eight-speed auto and $2000 cash back.

Small business operators can pick up Citroen's Berlingo van from $26,500 drive-away for the diesel manual.
