Following the unveiling of the all-new third-generation BMW 1 Series, which is set to arrive Down Under in the fourth quarter of 2019, the Bavarian brand has revealed a list of M Performance upgrades.
BMW has shown a handful of 1 Series hot-up parts on the top-of-the-range M135i xDrive, including a lightweight and aerodynamic body kit, larger wheel options and a performance-enhancing brake system.
The upgrades will be available from launch overseas, however, CarsGuide is awaiting confirmation as to what options will be offered in Australia.
Visually, the catalogue includes a unique high-gloss black front splitter, rear spoiler, side sill inserts, as well as a lightweight carbon-fibre rear diffuser, all of which were optimised in a wind tunnel for improved aerodynamics.
Frozen Black side lettering and highlights further accentuate the sporty body kit, and a new M kidney grille with a mesh design can be added.
Finishing the exterior kit is the option of 18- or 19-inch wheels in Jet Black with a graphic print displaying the M logo.
For improved performance, an 18-inch brake system with larger perforated and ventilated discs can be installed on the front axle, with the four-piston aluminium callipers finished in red.
Inside, customers may be offered an Alcantara-clad sports steering wheel, carbon-fibre shift paddles and velvet velour floor mats.
As reported, the new-generation 1 Series is built on the same platform as BMW’s X1 and X2 SUVs, meaning that it is no longer a rear-wheel-drive prospect, but rather offered with front- and all-paw drivelines.
Two petrol powertrain options will likely be made available in Australia, a 103kW/220Nm 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder unit, and a 225kW/450Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged four-pot for the range-topping M135i xDrive.
BMW Australia has confirmed that the vehicle will launch locally in Q4, 2019, though pricing and exact specifications have yet to be detailed.
