Citroen has revealed images of its new plug-in hybrid concept based on the C5 Aircross, which will make its public debut at the Paris motor show next month.
While only a one-off vehicle at this stage, a production version of the Hybrid may be on the cards by the end of 2019 to sit atop the C5 Aircross range, which is currently only offered with conventional powertrains.
The French carmaker has yet to outline powertrain specification and performance details, revealing only that the SUV would feature a zero-emissions driving mode.
It is believed the C5 Aircross Hybrid uses an all-wheel drive system and is motivated by a 147kW petrol engine combined with two electric motors for a total of 220kW.
Citroen has promised to have an electric option across 100 per cent of its range by 2025, which is a strong indication that the C5 Aircross Hybrid concept could hit the production line at some stage.
The brand's local wing has not revealed if it plans to bring the C5 Aircross five-seater Down Under, however it has already been released in China and is set for an imminent European launch.
The Australian Citroen passenger car range currently consists of the C3 small hatch, C4 Cactus compact SUV and the Grand C4 Picasso seven seater.
