Fans of niche wagons and electrification might make up a small overlap in the series of new car buying Venn diagrams, but Peugeot Australia hopes there will be space in that overlap for the 508 GT Sportswagon plug-in hybrid.
The 508 GT Sportswagon PHEV, the Fastback version of which has been in Australia for about a year, is set to arrive in Australia in the second quarter of 2023, likely only months before the recently revealed facelifted version of the Peugeot 508 Fastback shows up in Australia - unless the brand delays that to run-out the current version.
Pricing for the long-roof version of the 508 PHEV hasn’t been confirmed (customers are instead encouraged to register interest via the brand’s website), though it’ll likely share a similar price gap as the petrol Fastback and Sportswagon, around $2200.

Given the Fastback PHEV costs $81,610 before on-roads, a starting price of around $84,000 is reasonable to expect.
Like the Fastback, the Sportswagon PHEV will run a 133kW version of the brand’s 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine with an 81kW electric motor assisting, resulting in a total 165kW and 360Nm output for the plug-in hybrid.
The 11.8kWh battery allows for up to 52km of electric-only driving, while it can be charged to full in less than two hours via a 7kW charger.
Overseas, other variants are available, but here it’s just the top-spec GT, meaning features like 18-inch wheels, Nappa mistral full-grain leather seats with massage function for the fronts, a 12.3-inch instrument panel and 10.0-inch multimedia touch screen, 10-speaker premium Focal sound system and LED interior mood lighting are standard.
