Hyundai opens up new Venue: 2023's new light SUV scores Palisade-like look to take on Mazda CX-3 and Toyota Yaris Cross

Hyundai has detailed its facelifted Venue in India, which previews an update to the Australian light SUV likely due sometime in 2023.

The most obvious change to the new Venue is its fresh face that borrows heavily from the updated Palisade due to hit local showrooms in a few months, as well as the Tucson mid-size SUV.

Up front, the 2023 Venue scores a wider, chrome grille that connect the two headlights, while the lower bumper is also redesigned with an air intake.

In the rear, the updated Venue is fitted with new tail-lights that now connect, while the bumper is also tweaked for a more rugged look.

Hyundai has also tweaked the Venue’s interior with a two-tone colour on some grades, while Indian-market models also have access to an air purifier, wireless smartphone charger and a reclining rear seat.

However, the headline changes inside are a digital instrument cluster, as well as the latest 8.0-inch multimedia touchscreen with over-the-air updates.

In India, the Venue is offered with a choice of three powertrains – a 74kW/240Nm 1.5-litre turbo-diesel, an 88kW/172Nm 1.0-litre turbo-petrol or a 61kW/114Nm 1.2-litre petrol engine.

Australian versions will likely carryover the 1.6-litre petrol engine that delivers 90kW/151Nm to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox or an automatic transmission with the same number of ratios.

It is currently unclear exactly what specs, and at what price, will carry over to local cars, but for reference, the 2022 Hyundai Venue kicks off from $21,240 before on-road costs and tops out at $27,040.
