Ice to meet you! BMW opens order books for 2022 X3 and X4 M40i Frozen Edition models with unique exterior finish

The BMW X3 and X4 Frozen Editions stand apart thanks to their Frozen Deep Grey metallic paintwork.

BMW Australia will introduce two special-edition versions of its X3 and X4 M40i performance SUV pair, dubbed Frozen Edition due to their Frozen Deep Grey metallic paint finishes.

Limited to 37 examples – split 17 and 20 for the X3 and X4 – the Frozen Editions are available to order now exclusively through an online portal with a $2500 deposit, with deliveries expected from the second quarter of the year.

Pricing for the cars $142,900 drive-away for the X3, while the X4 costs $152,900 – both being more expensive than their standard M40i counterparts which retail for $115,900 before on-road costs and $123,900 (BOCs) respectively.

Both models are powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline six-cylinder petrol engine, sending 285kW/500Nm to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The result is a zero to 100km/h sprint in just 4.8 seconds for both models, while fuel economy is pegged at 8.9 litres per 100km.

From the outside, the X3 and X4 M40i Frozen Editions are distinguished by their unique colours, as well as carbon-fibre mirror caps, gloss-black front grille and red-painted M Sport brake callipers.

Inside, the new models also score black leather upholstery with red-accent stitching, tri-colour M seat belts and a swathe of carbon-fibre highlights.
