Jaguar Australia’s XF large luxury sedan and wagon line-up has been updated for 2019 with fewer engine options, and increased pricing and specification.
A total of seven variants have been cut from the range, including the limited-time 30d S First Edition Sportbrake, while a sole new version dubbed 30t 300 Sport has been added to bring the Jaguar XF line-up to 13 grades - a very broad range given sales account for less than 300 units per year on average.
Variants that have been discontinued include the 184kW/365Nm 2.0-litre petrol 25t Portfolio, the 25d Portfolio and 25d R-Sport grades powered by the 177kW/500Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel, the 132kW/430Nm 20d Portfolio, and both 30t Prestige and Portfolio versions with the 221kW/400Nm 2.0-litre petrol engine.
Going forward, the R-Sport grade and limited-edition 30t 300 Sport will be the only variants offered with the 221kW/400Nm turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol donk.
The remaining engines available include three petrol engines - a 2.0-litre turbo producing 147kW/320Nm or 184kW/365Nm in 20t and 25t form respectively, and a supercharged 3.0-litre V6 dubbed 35t with outputs of 280kW/450Nm.
There are also two turbo-diesel options – a 2.0 litre (dubbed 20d) with 132kW/430Nm, or a 221kW/700Nm V6 version known as the 30d.
Prices have risen across most models in the XF range by $4400, while the flagship 35t S is up $4078, and the 30d S which has increased by $4450. See below for a full pricing breakdown.
Justifying the price hike with more equipment, Jaguar has added bright metal pedals, premium carpet mats, a surround-view camera, Wi-Fi connectivity, satellite navigation and a bevy of new features for its ‘InControl’ smartphone app to grades across the XF line-up.
All versions, excluding the 300 Sport and R-Sport, also score metal tread plates with branded script, while the XF line-up (barring the R-Sport) is also now fitted with a suede cloth headliner.
At the base Prestige grade, equipment includes 18-inch wheels, electronically adjustable front leather seats and steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry and start, Bluetooth connectivity and a 5.0-inch driver display.
R-Sport versions gain sportier-looking 19-inch wheels, leather and Tech Mesh seats, bespoke tread plates and a black roof-liner.
Top-tier S versions are equipped with black 19-inch wheels and upmarket interior touches, as well as leather, suede and synthetic upholstery.
