2015 Mercedes-Benz GLE SUV
Mercedes-Benz is recalling its ML and GLE SUVs due to a concern the windscreen wipers may fail.
The fault involves the battery cable, which if incorrectly positioned may come in contact with the wiper arm. If this were to happen a short circuit could occur and may disable the wipers. Wiper failure in wet conditions could lead to impaired visibility and pose a safety hazard to the driver.
The recall affects all ML and facelifted and renamed GLE variants made between February 1, 2015 and October 30, 2015 with a total of 879 vehicles needing the fix.
A spokesperson for Mercedes-Benz Australia said they are not aware of any incidents connected to the fault.
Owners will be notified by mail and advised on where to take their vehicle to have the fault rectified at no cost.
This is the 11th recall this year for Mercedes-Benz Australia. Most recently the German carmaker recalled its S63 Coupe following the discovery that the front seat belts may not work properly during an accident due to incorrect fitment.
