Mercedes-Benz X350d 4Matic Edition 1 2019 pricing and spec confirmed

The Edition 1 might cost $8085 more than its Power sibling, but it adds the optional ‘Style Package’ as standard, plus more.

Mercedes-Benz Australia has again reset the benchmark for how much a dual-cab pick-up is worth, with its limited-edition X350d 4Matic Edition 1 to kick off from $87,500 plus on-road costs when it enters showrooms in July.

Based on the X350d 4Matic Power full-time flagship, the Edition 1 attracts an $8085 premium but adds several accessories and black cosmetic enhancements – all of which are fitted locally – to create a more menacing look.

The German brand says the Edition 1 is exclusive to the Australian market and only available for a limited amount of time, during which it is expects to sell 200 to 300 examples.

Usually a $950 option, metallic paintwork is standard, with three colours available. ‘Kabara Black’ is contrasted with gloss-black trim and grey sports stripes, while ‘Bering White’ and ‘Rock Grey’ instead feature a matte-black finish for both elements.

The black trim for all three hues extends to the front ‘Mercedes-Benz’ badge, twin-louvre grille, front and rear valances, foglight surrounds, side doorhandles, beltline strip, roof rails, tailgate handle, ‘Edition 1’ badges and 19-inch alloy wheels.

The sports stripes adorn the bonnet sides, side mirrors, ‘V6’ badge surrounds, lower doors and lower tailgate.

Accessories include a sports bar, tubular side steps and a spray-on bedliner, all of which are black, as well as a body-colour hard tonneau cover.

Exclusive to the Australian market, Mercedes expect to sell between 200-300 examples. Exclusive to the Australian market, Mercedes expect to sell between 200-300 examples.

Inside, ‘Edition 1’ branded floormats feature alongside a chrome ‘Edition 1’ badge on the passenger side of the dashboard.

Leather upholstery, heated front seats, rear privacy glass and a power-operated rear window are also standard equipment, while advanced driver-assist systems extend to autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and lane-keep assist.

The Edition 1 is motivated by a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 engine that produces 190kW of power at 3400rpm and 550Nm of torque from 1400 to 3200rpm.

Mated to a ‘7G-Tronic’ seven-speed torque-converter automatic transmission and a permanent ‘4Matic’ all-wheel-drive system, the Edition 1 should match its Power sibling in the sprint from zero to 100km/h, at 7.9 seconds.
