MG EZS electric SUV confirmed for Australia

MG has confirmed its first zero-emissions vehicle, the EZS SUV, will be launched in Australia.

MG Motor has confirmed its first zero-emissions vehicle, the EZS SUV, will be launched in Australia, with local on-sale scheduled for 2020.

Revealed at last year’s Auto Guangzhou (an import/export fair held in the Chinese city just north-west of Hong Kong) the new ZEV is based on the MG ZS, a compact five-seat SUV already available in Australia with a choice of 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo and 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engines.

Powered by a 110kW electric motor, MG claims the EZS’s lithium-ion battery delivers a cruising range of up to 428km, using 13.8kW per 100km in the process.

Exact pricing and specification for the EZS is yet to be confirmed.

The three-model petrol-powered MG ZS line-up ranges in price from $20,990 for the Excite 1.5, through $22,889 for the Excite 1.0, to $24,990 for the Essence 1.0, all drive-away.
