Renault Koleos 2019 Formula Edition price and specs revealed

This special edition version of the Koleos builds on the well-equipped Zen variant.

Another day, another special edition model - this time it’s the Renault Koleos, which has just been given the Formula Edition treatment.

The 2019 Renault Koleos Formula Edition is said to have been “inspired by Daniel Ricciardo and Renault’s rich motorsport heritage” - but let us fill you in on a little secret… this is no Koleos RS model.

Instead the Formula Edition takes the standard Koleos Zen model - with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, continuously variable transmission (CVT) automatic, and in 4x2 front-wheel-drive guise - and adds a few extra styling elements.

The most noticeable changes are 19-inch ‘Proteus’ alloy wheels with black centre caps, as well as the black side mirror caps, silver side steps and Formula Edition stickers. The Formula Edition model is available in Universal White, Metallic Grey or Metallic Black.

The standard inclusions are additional to what you’d usually get in the Zen variant - 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, sat nav, reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, auto emergency braking (AEB), lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, heated front seats and faux leather trim. The Formula also steps up from 18-inch wheels to 19s.

The price for this version of the Koleos is $36,490 drive-away - which is exactly the same as the price you can expect to pay for the Zen model that it’s based on, according to Renault Australia’s website. Renault Australia is expected to offer 400 examples of the Koleos Formula Edition.

A facelifted version of the Koleos is due on sale by the end of 2019.
