Suzuki Jimny Lite pricing confirmed! But cut-price off-roader won't be as cheap as you think

The Suzuki Jimny Lite pricing has been revealed

Suzuki has today confirmed the RRP for its upcoming Jimny Lite, but the cut-price off-roader isn't as cheap as you might have been expecting.

A quick reminder, the regular manual Jimny lists at $28,490. The Lite will under cut it by $1500, with the cheaper offering to list at $26,990.

Metallic paint will cost you $695 (single tone) or $1295 (two tone). Speaking of which, you can have your Lite in White, Jungle Green or Medium Grey in single colours, or Chiffon Ivory with a black roof, Kinetic Yellow a with black roof, or Brisk Blue with a black roof in the two tone.

As stated in the confirmation press release, start of sales is set for August 1st, 2021 and a dedicated page on suzuki.com.au with more information on the Jimny Lite will be live on July 1st, 2021, with the opportunity for customers to contact a Suzuki dealer to secure a pre order for their very own Jimny Lite.

"My phone has been ringing off the hook since we confirmed Jimny Lite last week! Dealers are keen to know pricing, ready to place pre-orders to secure customer's places in the queue," says Suzuki Australia's GM of Automotive, Michael Pachota.

"As I mentioned earlier in the month, we will maintain the fair allocation process based on customer orders with a queue system as we have done with the current Jimny in 2021, making sure the next order in the queue gets the next car to hit Australian soil, every time."

While the Lite's engine and power outputs are unchanged, the new model does away with the automatic gearbox option, serving up a manual transmission.

It also ditches the Jimny's multimedia set-up, with the Lite instead rocking a simple radio and CD player set-up, along with a Bluetooth connection.

You'll also get 15-inch steel wheels, while plastic side mirror covers, halogen headlamps and the deletion of the fog lamps complete the exterior changes.

As reported last week, the Jimny wait time can now be as long as 12 months. But the new Lite model will essentially start a new list, with new waiting times, with Suzuki to offer a first in best dressed system.

The new Lite model will launch in August, with the brand's order site to go live from July 1.
