There's life in the Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series yet, with a new special edition expected to arrive to celebrate the nameplate's anniversary.
The LandCruiser nameplate celebrated 70 years this year, and to celebrate, Toyota is rolling out historic special editions to mark what truly is a momentous occasion.
We've reported already on the LandCruiser Prado 70th Anniversary Special Edition, which - according to Japanese site Creative 311 - will debut in August this year, just in time to celebrate the 70th birthday.
That model could act as something of a send-off for the Prado, with news out of Japan that a lightly face-lifted Prado (think trim and option changes) will appear this year, ahead of the new model that should arrive around 12 months after the launch the new 300 Series.

But the trusty 70 Series won't be forgotten either. CarsGuide understands that model will get its own 70th Anniversary Edition this year that pays homage to the brand's heritage.
While further information is thin on the ground, you can expect the special edition to arrive around August, and if the Prado is any guide, for it to focus on cosmetic updates rather than mechanical ones.
If the 70 Series follows the Prado's lead, then you can expect to find new interior trim options and 70th Anniversary logos, as well as a tougher-look exterior treatment.
On the Prado, that means a new and blacked-out look, with new black alloy wheels, mirror caps and roof rails, and black body flourishes, too, but how that will translate to the 70 Series remains to be seen.
