Up and up! 2022 MG 3, ZS, ZST and HS price rises confirmed - but another round coming soon for Kia Rio, Mitsubishi ASX, Hyundai Kona and Toyota RAV4 rivals

MG Australia has just increased the pricing of several 2021-built variants of the MG3 light hatchback, ZS/ZST small SUV and HS mid-size SUV – but another round of cost tweaks is coming soon alongside 2022 examples.

In this instance, the MG3 is up $500 range-wide, with the entry-level Core now charging $18,490 drive-away, while the mid-range Core with Nav and flagship Excite have moved to $18,990 and $19,990, respectively.

The entry-level ZS Excite has jumped $500, to $22,490. The next-up ZST Core is unchanged, at $25,990, while the ZST Vibe, ZST Excite and ZST Essence have also risen by $500, to $27,490, $30,490 and $33,490, respectively. The ZS EV still asks for $44,990.

 With the exception of the Plus EV Essence flagship that’s become $1000 dearer, at $48,990, the HS line-up (see full pricing table below) has managed to avoid this round of price adjustments.

Speaking to CarsGuide, an MG Australia spokesperson confirmed no corresponding changes have been made to Kia Rio, Mitsubishi ASX, Hyundai Kona and Toyota RAV4 rivals’ standard equipment, with external factors instead behind the price changes.

“In the face of unprecedented cost increases in raw materials and transport logistics in 2021, MG Motor will revise its national drive-away pricing from February 1, 2022,” they said.

“Adjustments of between $500 and $1000 will be made to a number of 2021-built vehicles, while 2022-built vehicles will be adjusted by between $1000 and $2000. The 2022-built stock will arrive from April 2022.”

We’ll have to wait a couple more months to find out which variants are caught up in the next round of pricing tweaks and to what degree, so stay tuned.
