The premium car manufacturers have traditionally stayed away from the hot hatch market, but that's no longer the case, with the BMW M135i and Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG going head to head in this new premium performance hatch territory.
I spent the day driving a fantastic pair of performance hatchbacks, and if you want to be fastest against a stopwatch, the all-wheel drive traction and amazing body control of the A45 is the one to go for.
But if you want to spend a little less money, and have a bit more fun, its the BMW M135i that should get your gong.
