The $24,640 Fabia Monte Carlo wagon is the range-topper in Skoda's city-sized wagon range, sitting above the entry-level $16,490 66TSI manual and the mid-spec $19,490 81TSI DSG. Those are list prices, but at the time of review, Skoda was offering a drive-away deal which adds $1,500 and covers all on-road costs.
The front-wheel-drive wagon shares the same engine and transmission as the 81TSI, a turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol good for 81kW and 175Nm, and paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic.
Splashing out on the Monte Carlo wagon will nab you sports seats with a bespoke red-and-black trim, along with 17-inch black alloys that will match your black grille, side skirts, rear diffuser and roof rails. Inside, you'll get a sportier interior treatment, along with cruise control and a genuinely gigantic glass roof.
The Monte Carlo also picks up the standard kit from the 81TSI, including reversing camera, Apple CarPlay or Android Auto and AEB.
A benchmark for boot space in the city-car segment, the Fabia Monte Carlo wagon will swallow 505 litres with the rear seats up, and an impressive 1,370 litres with them flat.
The Skoda Fabia range is built exclusively in the Czech Republic.
