Holden Zafira 2003: What are the best oils and fluids to use?

Answered by CarsGuide 24 May 2019

The engine oil should be a 10W-40, the auto transmission fluid and power steering fluid should be from a quality brand, and the brake fluid should be a DOT 4 spec. Go to an automotive supplies shop and they should be able to advise you.

Do South Korean cars use lighter steel?

Answered by CarsGuide 23 Mar 2016

Hyundai spokesman Bill Thomas replies on behalf of South Korean brands: "Hyundai uses only the finest grades of steel in the construction of its cars — in fact, we are the only car maker on earth that makes its own steel, so we can control its quality to very fine tolerances. It's not thinner or lighter, it's just very high quality. The new Elantra, for example, uses 53 per cent advanced ultra-high-strength steel in its body construction, which makes it 30 per cent stiffer than the model it replaces. It's also worth noting that Hyundai uses a huge amount of Australian iron ore in the construction of our steel, from Western Australia, so there's a bit of Australia in all of our cars."

Ask Smithy Xtra Holden Zafira LPG conversion

Answered by CarsGuide 3 May 2011

Right now you have a car that is worthless, but with a new engine it could be worth as much as $5000, which makes it worthwhile to spend the $4000. Cheaper European cars can become expensive as the kays climb, so I would be inclined to get out of it if you can. It could be converted to LPG, but I wouldn’t recommend you do it, and I doubt you would find a kit to do it.

Holden Astra 2004: Does it have the same engine as the Holden Zafira?

Answered by CarsGuide 21 Jul 2005

YES, the Zafira is also powered by the Z22SE 2.2-litre engine, which has a timing chain, not a belt, so there's no need for additional servicing.
