Best photos from Detroit motor show

It’s the motor show that starts the year, and after a subdued event in 2012 Detroit has bounced back with plenty of eye candy and new cars for the 2013 motor show.

There’s a Chevrolet Corvette that was confirmed by the chairman and CEO of General Motors, Dan Akerson, as planned to be made in right-hand-drive and come to Australia  “soon” – but then snatched from us by Akerson being over-ruled by his second in charge of General Motors, Tim Lee, who is the head of the company’s international operations.

Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi have each rolled out new models, and revisions of existing ones. Infiniti has taken the silk off the Q50 four-door that it hopes will rival the BMW 3-Series and Lexus IS.

Hyundai and Honda are among the interesting concept cars that will seed new models, while Volkswagen has unveiled vehicles at both ends of the spectrum – ultrafrugal hybrid and performance-focused versions. We’ll be updating the gallery as more emerges. Stay tuned.
