I have a 2013 Ford Fiesta that has had one clutch replacement and many 'software updates' and supposed fixes, and while the shuddering and jerking subsided for a couple of months after the new clutch was fitted it has returned and jerks and shudders and changes gears harshly and stalls when the car heats up. It was tested by the dealership that insists the readings are under the required amount for a replacement gearbox. What does this mean? The car was driven at walking pace to assess the fault and not under normal driving conditions so of course the car drove fine for the 10 minutes they tested it. Ford head office won't do anything because the dealership tested it and found no fault; it shuddered and stalled five minutes on the way home from the dealership! Any suggestions? Should I get the gearbox independently tested? Are these cars just terrible to drive or unsafe?

23 Dec 2016The Fiesta dual-clutch gearbox in your car is trouble, pure and simple, as many other Fiesta owners would happily tell you. You could get the gearbox independently tested, but I fear that Ford wouldn't take any notice of the findings. Ford is facing a class action suit from owners affected by the problem, and I would suggest you consider joining that if you feel you are unlikely to get anywhere with Ford.
