Discovery Sport doesn't quite cut it

Asked by Rene De Jaeger

After reading your glowingly positive reviews on the Land Rover Discovery Sport I waited eagerly to test drive it. But I found flaws that you seemingly overlooked and I suggest you share them with my fellow female readers considering this as their primary family transport. For a premium vehicle the lower dash and door plastics are simply terrible, and my kids will scratch those hard plastics in no time; I am 1.8 metres tall and the multimedia screen was too far away from me, so I had to learn forward to use the touchscreen (dangerous and the deal breaker); there is no blind-spot warning or adaptive cruise control available, according to Land Rover. I think these are major oversights for a brand-new design.

Buttons on the steering wheel mirror the controls on the touchscreen, so that should not be a giant drama. As for the safety gear, Land Rover spokesman Tim Krieger says: "There have been some restrictions on these features because of global demand but both are available to order."
