E10 fuel in a Mitsubishi Colt

Asked by L. Mantle

In checking the FCAI website to find out if my wife's 1988 Mitsubishi Colt can use E10 petrol I found that it's ok for all fuel-injected cars built after 1986, but my wife's Colt has a carburetor. Is it ok to use E10 or should we put the higher octane petrol in it?

Mitsubishi's recommendation is for fuel-injected models only, so I   would not use E10 in your wife's car. It would be best in your   circumstances to go to the higher octane petrol.
