Hyundai or Kia for a smaller SUV?

Asked by Russell Downes

You helped me about six years ago with advice on buying my 2006 Ford Territory Ghia. Now, after a very good run with the Ford — apart from front-end problems fixed under warranty — I'm now seriously thinking about a smaller vehicle as I no longer tow a boat. The Hyundai ix35 Highlander seems a great replacement. Is a Kia equivalent an option?

The ix35 is definitely a good choice but I lean to the styling of the Kia Sportage and it has a longer warranty. They are mechanically identical, apart from suspension tune.
