Leaky tk

Asked by John Dunlop

I HAVE a 1998 Magna TK with 3.0-litre V6 which has developed an annoying oil leak from the rear cylinder bank. I have replaced the valve-cover gasket with no success, because it seems to be leaking from the join between the engine block and head. Could you possibly point me in the right direction?

THE most likely place the leak is coming from is the valve-cover gasket, but having changed that, the next most likely source is the head gasket, as you suggest. It is not unknown for the head gasket to leak at the point where the oil supply for the overhead camshafts passes through the gasket.
