Kia Sportage 2016: Out of date navigation system

Asked by Philip Vella

The sat nav system in my 2016 Kia Sportage Platinum diesel has never worked properly from day one. It does not show roads that were built four to five years ago, often does not show correct speed limits for city or country roads, and directs you to take the long way round resulting in many extra and unnecessary kilometres, particularly when traveling on country roads. Kia advises that there are no updates in the foreseeable future, so I’ve paid for an unreliable sat nav.

That sounds like a system that’s well out of date, one that should be updated by Kia. You might have an argument that it’s not fit for purpose under our consumer laws, so if you want to take it further you could contact the Queensland state consumer affairs people and seek their advice.
