Problem with Volvo automatic transmission

Asked by Eric Vadarlis

All of a sudden a few months ago my 2010 Volvo S60 diesel automatic, which has done 55,000 km, developed an unwillingness to shift from neutral to drive and then did so with a clunk. My dealer did a software reset/upgrade and seems to have worked, but is it something that I should be aware of?

The problem you describe is a relatively common one with the Aisan auto Volvo uses. Volvo's fix is to reflash the TCM to alter the shift points, which seems to be what your dealer has done. Hopefully you won't have any more problems with it, but keep an eye on it.
