Kia Sportage 2012: Diesel auto intermittent power loss problem
Asked by Smithy
Tim Reeve reported that his 2012 Kia Sportage diesel auto had an intermittent problem, one that occurred every three weeks or so when the engine would die under acceleration from a standstill, or while reversing up a steep incline. Tim was concerned about the safety of the vehicle and contacted his dealer, who claimed it was doing a "Stall Test". He also contacted Kia, but received no response. We were then asked to help and we contacted Kia to request they have their people check the vehicle.

27 Sep 2013As a result of our request Kia had the vehicle inspected and also checked the conditions that it was occurring in and they told us that the vehicle is ok and that the problem Tim sees is related to the way he was trying to drive it. We understand that Tim is now content with Kia's response.
