Mazda 3 2016: Pinging sound

I am hearing some pinging noise while accelerating in my 2016 Mazda 3 BN SP25, which has done 14,000 km. I'm using unleaded 91 petrol, am the only driver, and there was no load inside the car when the noise occurred. Is this normal?

8 Dec 2017Has it just started making the noise, or has it been doing it since new? Try running it on higher octane fuel and see if the noise goes away.
