I am faced with a major engine issue with my 2011 VW Tiguan 125TSI 2.0-litre. It's out of warranty and VW Australia has grilled me, but I still await an answer as to a resolution. I have only had it serviced at VW dealerships, but this was irregular due to job redundancy, having my mum die, and then my father. At the last service (90,000 km/72 months) in November 2015 all was ok. It was towed into the dealership on 10th February and I am still awaiting a response. VW seems at best to be defensive instead of proactive, and I'm concerned that the "emissions saga" has tainted the way they handle current customer service issues and that will reflect in my outcome? What can I do if I'm not happy with outcome?

4 Mar 2016Three weeks have passed since your car was towed to the dealership, which is more than enough time for VW to get back to you with a resolution. The resolution must come from VW via the dealer, so keep the pressure on at dealer level, while at the same time stay in contact with VW. If the response isn't to your liking when you get it you'll have to attempt to negotiate a resolution that is more to your liking. You could consult the Consumer Affairs people in Victoria, but I doubt they would be of any help. You could also seek advice from a solicitor, but again I doubt that you would get any satisfaction there. The best course of action is to negotiate with VW and stare them down.
