Like many of your readers I am similarly aggrieved with the evasive tactics of VW in regard to my Tiguan. The car is still under warranty fortunately, as it has been plagued by problems. Initially, it was an ignition switch that required replacement, then it was a recall for an exhaust emission sensor replacement, after which they found the need to fix a fuel leak to prevent the threat of fire. Most recently I had new tyres fitted at 43,000 km, as I believed tyre wear was causing road rumble. The new tyres did not fix the problem and eventually it was discovered that a nearside wheel bearing was faulty and the offside CV joint seal was leaking. I have six months warranty left and I'm not confident about future trouble free motoring. There seems to be a lack of communication and an unwillingness to keep the customer informed about these issues, and I find that quite concerning. I can't believe that such a world-renowned company could be so defensive when one of its products doesn't meet their normal high standards.

5 Jul 2012It is disappointing when you have spent a lot of money buying what you believed was a quality product to find the truth to be something else. Getting the runaround from the company just adds to the frustration. The only thing you can take some comfort from is that the problems to date have been fixed, and you really can't predict what might or might not happen in the future.
