Holden has pumped up its Colorado 4x4 ute line-up with a new limited-edition LSX grade, which adds Australian-designed and developed accessories and can be had from as little as $44,990 drive-away in pick-up form.
The LSX 4x4 crew cab pick-up – which normally wears a $51,945 plus on-roads price tag – matches its drive-away pricing with the recommended retail cost of the Colorado LS, on which it is based.
Buyers also have the option of a crew cab chassis version that checks in at $50,055 before on-roads, but no special drive-away pricing of this variant is offered by Holden.
Automatic transmissions on either grade attract a $2200 price premium, while the new Colorado LSX also benefits from the five year warranty, five years free roadside assist and three years free scheduled servicing announced by Holden earlier this week.
Production however, will be limited to just 800 dual cabs and 200 cab chassis body styles.
Accessories fitted to the LS dual cab ute to turn it from plain to champagne include distinctive black-painted 18-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tyres, black fender flares, decals and the black grille.
There is also the more functional sports bar – in matt-black finish – and a soft tonneau cover.
The cab-chassis version adds the wheel and tyre package, skipping the other features that fit with the tub model.
Holden’s executive director of marketing Mark Harland said the LSX was inspired by the 2016 Colorado Xtreme concept vehicle.
“We know a lot of our Colorado customers want to make their truck stand out from the crowd and accessories are a great way to do that.” he said.
The Colorado LSX should give Holden a sizeable lift in sales on the back of the brand's 4689-unit effort last month, representing a historically low 4.9 per cent market share.
Order books for Holden’s Colorado LSX open Monday March 12.
