2021 Mini Hatch and Convertible pricing and specs detailed: Style-focused light-car range gets new look to lure you from Audi A1, VW Polo and Citroen C3

Mini has outed pricing and specs for its refreshed 2021 Hatch and Convertible range, hugely expanding available variants with five trim levels and three engines on offer spread across three body styles.

In the three-door Hatch body, the Cooper, Cooper S and JCW engines are still available, though each is now available with another level of customisation.

Starting with the Cooper, the base trim is called Classic, and opens the range at $37,500 before on-road costs.

The Classic Plus is priced at $41,000, while the Mini Yours is $46,000.

Standard equipment includes LED head- and tail-lights, cloth and leatherette interior, piano-black cabin highlights, an 8.8-inch multimedia screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and a wireless smartphone charger, as well as a reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning.

A choice of 16-inch wheels (two options), exterior colours (four options), roof/mirror cap finishes (three options) and bonnet stripes (two options) are also available to Mini Cooper Classic buyers.

Stepping up to the Classic plus adds Mini’s drive-mode selector, keyless entry, sports seats with front row heating, panoramic sunroof and premium sound system, as well as 17-inch wheels (two options) and more exterior colour choices (seven options).

Buyers of the Mini Cooper Mini Yours net a nappa leather steering wheel, darkened headliner, chequered silver interior trim, ambient lighting, and bespoke badges and floor mats.

The Mini Yours trim also offers up four different 17-inch wheel options or one 18-inch choice.

For the Cooper S, the trim choices are Classic ($45,700), Mini Yours ($52,800) and JCW Sport ($53,200).

The Cooper S Classic and Mini Yours trims mirror its Cooper counterparts, save for the head-up display offered in the latter, while the JCW Sport gains a sporty bodykit, adaptive suspension, Dinamica/leather seats and eight exterior colour choices.

The Mini Hatch JCW is also now offered with three trims – Essential ($54,850), Classic ($58,850) and Mini Yours ($62,350) – with the cheapest option serving up 17-inch wheels, less exterior colour options, fixed sports suspension and less connected services, while the other two grades mirror equipment offered in the Cooper and Cooper S versions with the same name.

All JCW grades also score sports brakes and Mini’s drive-mode selector.

Powering the Cooper is a 100kW/220Nm 1.5-litre turbo-petrol three-cylinder engine, while the Cooper S and JCW use 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinders tuned to 141kW/280Nm and 170kW/320Nm respectively.

Manual options are now discontinued across the Hatch range with the Cooper and Cooper S paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and the JCW scoring an eight-speed torque convertor auto. All three versions send drive to the front wheels.

If three doors are too impractical, Mini also offers the Cooper and Cooper S engines in a five-door model, with the former split into Classic ($38,500), Classic Plus ($42,500) and Mini Yours ($47,500) forms, and the latter available in Classic ($46,950), Mini Yours ($54,050) and JCW Sport ($54,450) flavours.

Finally, a convertible body style is also hitting showrooms with Cooper, Cooper S and JCW engines.

The Cooper Convertible is offered in Classic ($43,680), Classic Plus ($48,180) and Mini Yours ($54,180) forms; the Cooper S is available in Classic ($51,530), Mini Yours ($58,630) and JCW Sport ($58,880) trim; and the JCW comes in Essential ($60,380), Classic ($64,380) and Mini Yours ($67,880) variants.

Of note, pricing of the 2021 Mini hatch and convertible range is up from the outgoing model, and as reference, last year’s three-door hatch was priced between $35,150 and $61,300.
