2022 Mercedes-Benz Vito price and features: New turbo-diesel engine option detailed for updated Toyota HiAce, Hyundai Staria-Load and Ford Transit Custom rival

Mercedes-Benz Australia has updated the Vito van and Valente people mover for 2022, with the latter renamed Vito Tourer as part of the changes due in May for both models, which include a new engine option.

As before, the Vito is available in three grades, with the entry-level 111 still motivated by an 84kW/270Nm 1.6-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine with a six-speed manual.

The mid-range 116 and flagship 119, however, now come with a new and improved 2.0-litre unit that produces a familiar 120kW/380Nm and 140kW/440Nm, respectively.

Either way, the 116 and 119 have a nine-speed torque-converter automatic, which has two more gears than its predecessor. Drive is sent to the rear wheels.

The 111 is still offered is SWB (short wheelbase) and LWB (long wheelbase) forms, while the 116 and 119 carry on with MWB (medium wheelbase) and LWB guises and the option of a two-row Crew Cab configuration.

Pricing for the Vito is up across the board, with rises ranging from $1158 to $4423, depending on the variant (see full pricing table below).

That said, 116 and 119 have been compensated with a longer list of standard equipment, with new additions including tinted windows, comfort seats, all-season rubber floor mats and adaptive cruise control.

Meanwhile, the eight-seat Vito Tourer can only be had in as a 116 MWB, with its price up $4536 to $70,336 plus on-road costs.

But the Vito Tourer now comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, tinted windows, seat cushion length extension, velour floor mats and adaptive cruise control.
