2022 MG3 price and features: Rising cost locked in for most popular Kia Rio, Volkswagen Polo, Toyota Yaris, Mazda 2 and Suzuki Swift rival

The MG3 has been given additional cost increases.

MG Australia has locked in higher pricing for the MG3 light hatchback, which is due to kick in when new MY22 stock arrives in April.

As reported, on February 1, MG Australia issued remaining MY21 examples of the entry-level Core, mid-range Core with Nav, and flagship Excite variants with $500 price rises.

In two months, the same versions will move up by $500 again, meaning the Core, Core with Nav, and Excite will jump to $18,990, $19,490 and $20,490 drive-away, respectively.

An MG Australia spokesperson revealed earlier this month the pricing adjustments were “in the face of unprecedented cost increases in raw materials and transport logistics in 2021”.

Therefore, no tweaks have been made to the standard equipment of the most popular Kia Rio, Volkswagen Polo, Toyota Yaris, Mazda2 and Suzuki Swift rival.

For reference, the MG3 is motivated by an 82kW/150Nm 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine, which is mated to a four-speed torque-converter automatic transmission.
