2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC pricing and specs: Slimmed down range for BMW X3, Audi Q5, Genesis GV70 and Lexus NX rival

Mercedes-Benz will rollout its second generation GLC mid-size SUV from June this year with just a single variant available from launch, significantly slimming down the line-up.

The sole GLC300 on offer is priced at $104,900 before on-road costs, which is a noticeable $12,600 jump over the outgoing model, while the GLC200 and GLC300e plug-in hybrid will not continue on in new-gen form for Australia.

A reveal and timeline for the AMG-tuned 43 and 63 has yet to be locked in, but they could arrive later this year to bolster GLC options for customers looking for more performance.

Despite the jump in price, buyers are treated to a larger vehicle with higher levels of standard equipment, as well as small tweaks to styling.

As previously reported, the new GLC is 60mm longer than its predecessor, as well as 15mm extended wheelbase to liberate more room in the cabin for passengers, as well as a boot that is 50 litres larger than before at 620L volume.

However, as the height is 4mm shorter, headroom for the driver actually drops 16mm.

Differentiating itself from the outgoing model, the new GLC sports body-coloured wheelarch cladding, 20-inch AMG alloy wheels and larger front brakes.

Inside, the GLC mirrors the related new-generation C-Class with a portrait-style multimedia touchscreen with MBUX software.

Standard equipment now includes a panoramic sunroof, head-up display, electronic front seat adjustment, heated front seats, and AMG Line exterior and interior appointments – all of which were optional extras in the old car.

The new GLC also features a ‘transparent bonnet’ for easier off-roading that can display ground obstructions and the angle of the front wheels on the multimedia screen, as well as a powered tailgate.

Powering the GLC300 is a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine producing 190kW/400Nm, which matches the old car for power, but gains 30Nm in torque.

With drive sent to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission, the 2023 GLC300 can accelerate 0-100km/h in just 6.2 seconds.

However, new to the GLC is a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that pairs with the stop/start engine technology to return a combined fuel economy figure of 7.7 litres per 100km.
