Ford Escape 2017 | new car sales price
Ford has announced local specifications and pricing for its Ford Escape mid-sized SUV, ahead of its Australian launch early in 2017.
The arrival of the Escape will see the Kuga badge dropped and the return of the US-market nameplate which has been dormant in Australia since 2012.
Along with new styling, smarter technology and the introduction of a front-wheel drive variant in the Trend grade, the price of entry into the Escape line-up has also been dropped.
The Escape range starts at $28,490 for the front-wheel drive Ambiente with a six-speed manual gearbox and tops out at $47,490 for the all-wheel drive diesel Titanium with a six-speed automatic transmission.
The Trend specification sits in the middle of the Escape range and for the first time will come as a two-wheel drive.
Standard features on the Ambiente include the latest version of Ford’s media system SYNC3 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, there’s an eight-inch touch screen, reversing camera, sat nav, rear parking sensors, dual-zone climate control and emergency call function.
The Titanium grade adds auto parking (it’ll now park at a right angle to the kerb, too) and proximity unlocking.
A $1300 tech pack brings advanced technology such as AEB (now works at up to 50km/h), blind sport warning and rear cross traffic alert.
The Trend specification sits in the middle of the Escape range and for the first time will come as a two-wheel drive. With a list price $32,990 the front driver costs $3000 more than the petrol all-wheel drive Trend.
Engines are carried over from the Kuga and includes a 1.5-litre petrol four cylinder which makes 110kW/240Nm with the manual gear box and 134kW/240Nm with the auto, a 178kW/345Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and a 132kW/400Nm 2.0-litre four cylinder turbo-diesel engine.
