Heating up! Toyota adds new performance equipment and colours to GR86, GR Corolla, and GR Supra models

The GR Supra can now be had in 'Plasma Orange', and the GR Corolla in 'Eclectic Blue'. No colour changes for the GR86.

The Toyota GR86 headlines a number of updates to Toyota’s GR performance car range, with the sports coupe now available with extra performance and safety features much like those recently confirmed by Subaru for the 86’s BRZ twin.

Manual-equipped Toyota GR86s will now be fitted with autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and Lane Departure Alert (LDA) and automatic high beam just as Subaru’s manual BRZ is now available with the brand’s 'EyeSight' safety features.

And, just as the BRZ is now available in the ‘tS’ variant for the 2024 model year (as the previous generation was), Toyota is bringing back the ‘Performance Pack’ for its top-spec GR86 GTS variant.

This adds ZF Sachs shock absorbers with a “smoother rebound curve” which helps the coupe stay “flatter in corners”, as well as four-piston front and two-piston rear Brembo brake calipers replacing the two-piston front and single-piston rears fitted as standard.

“These latest upgrades to our popular and affordable GR86 sports car bring real improvements to both safety and performance – two crucial aspects for buyers,” Toyota Australia Vice President Sales and Marketing Sean Hanley said.

Technologies such as autonomous emergency braking aim to provide buyers with increased peace of mind, while the addition of the new Performance Pack enhances the already dynamic abilities of the GR86 even further.”

As well as the Performance Pack and safety updates for the GR86, Toyota has also added two new colours to two models in the GR range.

The GR Supra can now be had in 'Plasma Orange', which replaced the bright ‘Silverstone Yellow’ previously taking pride of place as the most ostentatious colour available on the model.

Furthermore, the GR Corolla can now be had in five colours with 'Eclectic Blue' joining the already available 'Glacier White', 'Liquid Mercury', 'Ebony' and 'Feverish Red'.
