New 600kW-plus supercharged Ford Mustang with official Ford Performance parts now available via one of Australia's most renowned tuners for massive power gain
The new generation Ford Mustang has been given the Ford Performance treatment by one of Australia’s best-known Ford tuners.
Herrod Performance, known for making Fords faster for decades and recently having worked with Ford Australia to build the Mustang R-Spec, is offering the official Ford Performance supercharger kit for current-generation Mustangs.
In addition to this, Herrod is the first to receive approval via the Australian Government as a manufacturer to be able to designate the finished cars as a 'Herrod Performance Ford'. It’s the first time a business like theirs has been granted a VTA (vehicle type approval).
It’s not the first time Herrod has offered a supercharger kit for the Ford Mustang, but its partnership with Ford Performance means the new kit for the 2024-and-onwards Mustang is fairly potent and comes with a warranty from Herrod and Ford Performance.
The kit is available for $29,000 for a standard Mustang GT, $30,500 for a GT with Magneride suspension, or $30,750 for a Dark Horse. The differences are due to the suspension and exhaust and the work required to change them.

The hero of the Ford Performance kit as supplied and installed by Herrod is a 3.0L Whipple supercharger, which brings up the Mustang’s 5.0-litre V8’s outputs from 345kW/570Nm (350kW in Dark Horse guise) to 604kW - the kit is an 810HP unit, and Herrod has an in-house dyno for testing cars.
Aside from exhaust and suspension tweaks, Herrod otherwise leaves the car as-is, including the brakes and chassis, which Herrod said are already able to handle the extra power.

While the VTA might seem like overkill for a business like Herrod, as they’re normally undertaken by international brands for cars that sell in the thousands, it means the Herrod-modified Mustangs can be registered in any state as a new car without the need for engineering approval from that particular state.
Herrod said they can work on remanufacturing the Mustangs with the supercharger kit while the workshop still goes about other business maintaining and modifying other customer cars.
The kit is available to order now, for installation at Herrod Performance in Thomastown, Melbourne.
