Special SUV headed our way: 2025 Jaguar F-Pace Anniversary Edition debuts new plug-in hybrid tech to fight the BMW X5 50e and Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid

The F-Pace Anniversary Edition is a plug-in hybrid.

Jaguar’s ageing F-Pace SUV is getting a shiny new special edition to celebrate the brand’s 90th birthday.

It is simply called the F-Pace 90th Anniversary Edition and the Indian owned British brand has applied the special edition treatment to the F-Pace R-Dynamic SE Variant.

It is available with two engine options: a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor and a plug-in hybrid set-up that marries the same engine with an electric motor.

Prices start from $91,915 (before on-road costs) for the petrol version and $115,882 for the plug-in hybrid.

The petrol version is about $4000 more expensive than its non-special edition equivalent and this is the first time the plug-in hybrid F-Pace has been sold in Australia.

The plug-in, or P400e in Jaguar speak, has some impressive stats.

It has total outputs of 297kW and 640Nm and can complete the benchmark 0-100km/h sprint in 5.3 seconds.

Jaguar claims it can be driven up to 69km in electric only mode thanks to its sizeable 19.2kWh battery. Claimed fuel use is 2.2L/100km but plug-in hybrid figures are complex and once the battery is drained you’ll use significantly more.

You can hook the F-Pace plug-in hybrid up to a fast DC charger, but it’ll take 30 minutes to replenish the battery from zero to 80 per cent, which means it can accept a max rate of about 30kW.

There are some notable highlights on the equipment list such as 21-inch gloss black alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, head-up display, aluminium interior trim, contrast stitching on the seats and ebony headlining.

It comes with continuously variable dampers, which means the car monitors the cars movements every few milliseconds and adjusts the suspension to meet the driver's inputs and road surfaces. This provides greater body control and makes for a more dynamic drive experience.

Deliveries of the F-pace 90th Anniversary Edition are expected to start from September.

The plug-in hybrid is the first electrified vehicle in the brand's line-up since the I-Pace electric SUV years ago. Jaguar is now on the road to zero-emissions with the brand targeting next year as the genesis of its electric-only future.
